Core & Pelvic Floor Class

Being a yoga teacher for many years, I always thought my body would spring back into shape after having kids…

But when I still looked 6 months pregnant years after the birth of my second child, I knew I needed to do things differently.

I had diastasis - a seperation of the muscles in the abdomen - and this weakness was throwing everything off balance.

The bracing and core exercises I found online were not only unhelpful, but actually causing a host of new issues like chronic back and hip pain, tight neck and shoulders and shortness of breath.

I eventually studied with a PT who specializes in postpartum recovery and became certified as a pregnancy and postpartum corrective excercise specialist.

I learned that the core is a whole system instead of individual parts and how to connect my entire core to my breath.  It was profound.  If you have studied yoga, you may know that the breath is both voluntary and involuntary, meaning you can control it, but it also happens on it’s own. Because of this, when you work with the breath, you can affect things that you are not otherwise able to change.

For me, muscles that I had feared were severed and dead were now awakened and responsive and my 4 finger diastasis completely healed.

And now I teach this to others. I usually teach individually, but I am going to be starting a 6 week group class on February 21st.  It is designed for Moms from 3 months to decades postpartum but anyone is welcome.
